Own a Home
Habitat for Humanity Desert Foothills (HFHDF) is looking for families that want to work in partnership with HFHDF to build and buy their own home.
To qualify for a HFHDF home, you must meet the following criteria:
- You must have a need for simple, decent, adequate housing
- You must have the ability to pay for Habitat housing as well as
- You must be a US Citizen or have a Resident Alien Card
Need can be many things. For example, your current living space may be too small for your family or may be in poor repair, or you may be paying more than you can afford.
Ability to pay means that you have enough income to cover the monthly payment for your new house as well as your other expenses (generally the income range needed is $25-$40,000/year).
Willingness to partner is our way of saying that we will build this house together. We require 400 sweat equity hours (200 hours for single parent families) from each family, and attendance at housing workshops that teach skills necessary for successful homeownership.
Homeowner orientation sessions are for people who are thinking about applying to buy a Habitat house. They are held approximately six months before we break ground on our homes. You must attend an orientation session to get an application for our program.
Please fill out the Homeowner Interest Form if you are interested in being notified of our next orientation session. You will be notified via phone and/or email.
